Warning: Cute Dog Ahead

“The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” -Gandhi

I’m a dog nut. In my lifetime, I have owned over 50 dogs. No, I’m not the crazy dog lady and no my parents weren’t breeders. We’re just a magnet for strays. :-)

Dogs have always held a special place in my heart. Subsequently, I have long supported rescue agencies. The first volunteer activity my fiance and I took part in involved going to the local humane society and walking adult dogs once a week. We’d later sign up to be fosters, battle (and barely beat) the puppies’ Parvo, and get engaged…with a pup bearing the ring!

Needless to say, I was ecstatic when I learned that Anni chose to donate to the Aussie Rescue & Placement Helpline in exchange for the makeover I gave her blog.

“The Aussie Rescue and Placement Helpline (ARPH) is a not-for-profit organization comprised of volunteers who are dedicated to the Australian Shepherd breed. ARPH’s mission is to rescue Australian Shepherds and place them in loving, caring, and permanent homes, and to educate the public about all aspects of owning an Australian Shepherd.”

This is Anni’s sweet Aussie, Sunday, that she adopted from ARPH. Sunday is a living example of the great work ARPH is doing. She’s also living proof that you can find that specific breed you’re looking for in an animal rescue group….you just have to look.*

As with most animal rescue organizations, ARPH is always in need of financial support and foster home volunteers (throughout the country).

*A great database to search for blank breed is PetFinder.com. You can narrow results to your area and interests. The groups represented are animal rescue groups dedicated to helping animals.
